Universal Door Closers for Bath University

IRM Bristol Ltd Provides LCN Door Closers to Bath University, 10 West Building

LCN 1260 Series Door Closers, installed in partnership with IRM Bristol Ltd at Bath University, have proved such a long term success that their specification continued into the new '10 West Building'. Over 150 closers were installed to fire and life safety doors at the facility which opened formally in July 2016. This latest building provides space for the expansion of the University's Dept. of Psychology, a new home for the Institute for Policy Research and also a dedicated Postgraduate Study Space on its upper floors.

A Powerful Case for Cast Iron

Cast Iron Door Closer Cut Away

We believe there is no better material for a door closer
than cast iron. As has been proved over many years at
the University. The manufacturing process may be difficult
(which is why just about every other closer manufacturer
has turned to aluminium) but the end product lasts
for decades. Since internal wear and tear is negligible, even
after extreme usage, regular re-adjustment of control valves
and spring power is not necessary.

Other recent projects at Bath University include the £23m - 4 East South Building featuring a further 89 off 1260 Series door closers. This building provides research and teaching space for the Faculty of Engineering & Design as well as housing a cutting
edge computing data centre.

Relcross Sales and Marketing Director Stuart McMaster said 'We are delighted to have supplied door closers for Bath University via IRM Bristol Ltd. The durability and reliability of our LCN closers make them ideal for projects like this and I confidently predict they will provide many years of trouble free service.'
