The degree of security achieved through access control is dependent to some extent upon the sophistication of the ‘system’ but when applied to door control the ultimate measure of security is the quality and type of lock used in conjunction with the integrity of the door and frame.
It is a pointless exercise to invest thousands of pounds in an access control system if the primary reason for controlling access is security - and the physical barrier, i.e. the door, is left susceptible to attack. With this in mind, it is crucial to identify the users’ needs and expectations before specifying a complete system.
